Kandhamal youth held for 'cheating' multiple women

Kandhamal: Commissionerate Police today arrested a youth for allegedly cheating several women on the pretext of marriage. The accused has been identified as Priyaranjan Naik from Daringbadi area of Kandhamal.

According to reports, Priyaranjan used to lure women by introducing himself as doctor, bank manager and government employee. After establishing physical relationship, the accused allegedly used to extract money by blackmailing the victims.

"He used to introduce himself as bank manager, government employee to win confidence. He has illicit relationships with several women and has taken money from many of them," a complainant said.

According to sources, the cops arrested the accused on the basis of phone recordings.

Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said," Basing on the complaint filed by three women, a case was registered and the accused was arrested"

On the other hand, the accused Priyaranjan refuted the allegations and said that he is being falsely implicated.

"This is a conspiracy against me. How can one person cheat so many women?" Priyaranjan said.
