The ‘One Nation One Election’ Committee led by Ram Nath Kovind presented its comprehensive report to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
The Union ministers met Kovind at his 12 Janpath residence and discussed the dates for convening the first official meeting of this committee.
The move comes a day after the government called a special session of Parliament between September 18 and 22, the agenda for which is under wraps.
Kovind said he always considered himself as a part of the larger family, which included the members of parliament.
The President said that "apart from deepening our economic relations, it is important for India and EU to engage in strategic and geo-political avenues such as in the Indo-Pacific".
The President, who is on a visit to the Netherlands and will return to India on Thursday, said the two countries are long-standing partners with historical ties of friendship and collaboration.
Noting the exemplary work done by the national water award-winners for water management in their respective fields, the President said that on the basis of such examples, "we could find hope for a water-secure future."
This year, no names were announced for 'Bharat Ratna', India's highest civilian award, which was last awarded in 2019 to former president Pranab Mukherjee, social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh and noted singer Bhupen Hazarika.
Gochikar presented Kovind a dedicated Tamra Falak (copper plate). Following the darshan at Srimandir, a special Patachitra was presented to Kovind by the temple administration. He remained for around 40 minutes in Srimandir.
Kovind will stay in Puri Raj Bhawan during his visit and not in the Governor’s House which was previously scheduled as per the protocol
President Kovind will be on a two-day visit to the pilgrim city. He is scheduled to visit Srimandir from 5 pm to 5.45 pm on February 19 and the temple will remain closed for the general public from 4 pm till 6 pm on the same day.
An interfaith prayer was held at Raj Ghat and Gandhi's favourite devotional songs were rendered to mark the 74th death anniversary of the father of the nation.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings to Indian Army personnel for their selfless service and dedication towards the nation.
In a "major security lapse", the prime minister's convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur on Wednesday.
The President was speaking while presenting the coveted "President's Standard to 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron", here, in the presence of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R. Hari Kumar.
