Three women critical after burn injury from earthen lamp

Bhubaneswar: In separate incidents, three women sustained burn injuries after they came in contact with earthen lamps during observation of Mahashivratri on Monday.

While one incident was reported from the State capital, two such cases have been reported, one each from Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts.

According to reports, the saree of a lady caught fire after it came in contact with an earthen lamp in Chakeisiani Shiv temple here near Rasulgarh square. Though efforts were made by onlookers to douse the fire, it could not be controlled due to heavy crowd in the temple. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where her condition is stated to be stable.

The other two cases happened in Birmitrapur and Bhanjeswar temples of Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts respectively. The women are undergoing treatment.
