Sambalpur: A fortnight after a similar protest in Kandhamal, job seekers seeking appointment as sikshya sahayaks in Sambalpur district, faced opposition from local people on Friday.

Twenty-seven persons were arrested for protesting the certificate verification of the job seekers, additional superintendent of police, Sambalpur Dilip Kumar Deo said.

The locals under the banner of Koshalanchal Students-Youth Citizens' Action Committee were protesting in front of the collectorate, the venue of the certificate verification, when the police rounded them up.
