New Delhi: With Delhi High Court blast in the background and the festive season approaching, BJP today asked police to step up security in the capital fearing that a lapse in arrangements could lead to another terror attack.

In a statement, Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly V K Malhotra also said Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram should immediately take steps to control crime.

"Now festive season has begun and very soon the Ramlila and Durga Puja celebrations will start. Terrorists will attack if there are lapses in security. Police has to make foolproof arrangements for the security of Delhi during the festival season," he said.

He also alleged that people were being looted while going to the bank or coming out of the bank.

"There are illicit liquor mafia, land mafia, sand mafia, child-lifters mafia, flesh trade mafia, and many other mafias, running their rackets without any fear. There are several gangs active in Delhi. There were many militant attacks in Delhi in which several people died but not a single militant has been punished," he said.
