Bhubaneswar: Taking a leaf out of Bollywood flick 'Bunty Aur Babli', a young couple is now on the run after duping people to the tune of Rs 2 crore by promising them cheap foreign tours.

The couple is now in the most-wanted list of Commissionerate police after several people have lodged complaints in connection with the fraud at Badagada police station.

According to reports, the couple had set up a travel agency in the name of Pan India Leisure Holidays at Gautam Nagar.

Luring people by promising them foreign trips at much subsidized rates, the couple has allegedly cheated nearly Rs 2 crores from a number of customers.

Sources said, the travel agency had collected cash in advance from interested clients on several occasions and went missing after shutting down their office.

The couple had lured clients by offering them Singapore tour package at Rs 41,000,  Bangkok at Rs 24,000 and Malayasia trip at Rs 21,000.

Senior police officials informed that the couple was maintaining a lavish lifestyle and had purchased a flat by investing Rs 70 lakh at a posh locality in the capital city.

The couple is also accused of cheating nearly Rs 1.5 lakh in foreign currency transactions. Besides, the couple has also duped another tour agency of Rs 15 lakh, sources said.

"We were providing flight tickets to the concerned couple who had set up a travel agency and so far we are yet to receive payments to the tune of Rs 15 lakh," said another complainant.
