September is the 18th consecutive month of double-digit WPI inflation.
Inflation in August, however, was much lesser than 16.23 per cent recorded in June 2022.
Inflation in manufactured items was lower at 10.62 per cent in December, against 11.92 per cent in the previous month.
Inflation in fuel and power basket was higher at 39.81 per cent in November, as against 37.18 per cent in October.
Higher prices of primary goods along with food articles and fuel cost stiffened India's October 2021 wholesale inflation on a sequential and year-on-year basis.
"The high rate of inflation in September 2021 is primarily due to rise in prices of mineral oils, basic metals, non-food articles, food products, crude petroleum and natural gas, chemicals and chemical products etc, as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year," the ministry said
The wholesale price-based inflation eased marginally to 12.07 per cent in June as crude oil and food items witnessed some softening in prices.
