Indian chess legend Viswanathan Anand was on Sunday elected deputy president of FIDE, the sport's world governing body, while incumbent president Arkady Dvorkovich was re-elected for a second term.

India won a bronze medal at the Tromso Chess Olympiad in 2014. While in the two virtual Olympiads, India won gold jointly with Russia in 2020 and the women's team won bronze in 2021.
The women's team probable comprises Koneru Humpy, D Harika, Vaishali R, Tania Sachdev, Bhakti Kulkarni, Vantika Agrawal, Mary Ann Gomes, Soumya Swaminathan and Eesha Karavade.
The Indian team comprises Anand, Gujrathi, P. Harikrishna, Nihal Sarin, R. Pragganandhaa, Koneru Humpy, D. Harika, Tania Sachdev, Bhakti Kulkarni, R. Vaishali and B. Savitha Shri, with Abhijit Kunte as the non-playing vice-captain.
