The higher education regulator has drafted regulations facilitating the establishment of campuses of foreign higher educational institutions in India in the line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advocated for the optimal utilisation of resources and other infrastructure by Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).
In its latest letter to the vice-chancellors of universities, the UGC has requested universities to devise facilitative mechanisms through their statutory bodies to allow students to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously.
It is related to the career advancement scheme (CAS) promotion from Academic Level 12 to Academic Level 13A and Academic Level 13A to Academic Level 14.
It is pertinent to mention here that UGC-NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and Colleges.
The NTA, at present, is in process of inviting online application forms for UGC NET December 2022. Earlier, several representations were received from the candidates to fix the last date for calculating the age limit to apply for JRF.
UGC NET examination will be conducted from February 21 to March 10, 2023.
The application process for the CUET-PG will start in mid-March 2023, said UGC chairperson Jagadesh Kumar.
The integrated portal-Biological Research Regulatory Approval Portal (BioRRAP)-has been initiated by the Government of India (GOI) to provide regulatory information to researchers and to facilitate approvals.
It is pertinent to mention here that the UGC had revised the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as per the recommendation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and developed curriculum and credit framework for UG programmes.

The draft 'curriculum and credit framework for four-year undergraduate programmes' prepared in accordance with National Education Policy is likely to be notified on Monday.
Accordingly, UGC has constituted an apex committee to prepare a roadmap and work towards bringing out textbooks in different Indian languages.
Apart from conducting sensitising workshops for their employees, the Ministry has also asked to observe discrimination against women pakhwada from November 25 to December 10, 2022.
