53 wagons of a coal-laden goods train derailed at Gurpa station in Gaya district of Bihar between Koderma and Manpur railway sections of Dhanbad division.
Meanwhile, the passengers, who were waiting to board on the train at Puri Station, expressed discontentment due to the unexpected delay of the train. The train was scheduled for Howrah.
The goods train laden with cement was en route to Sambalpur city station from Jharsuguda when the mishap occurred.
As many as five coaches of Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger train derail in Jeypore on Monday afternoon.
Train services on the route have been affected as two railway tracks were blocked following the derailment.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has put the number of the wounded at 50, Xinhua news agency reported.
Railway sources said the accident might have happened due to signal jumping by the Gadag Express, but this can be ascertained only after a probe.
The derailment of the 15-wagon train took place in the district of Lubudi in Lualaba province, Fabien Mutomb, Director General of the SNCC, said
“As per routine, trains are taken to the washing line after the passengers finally deboard the train at the last stoppage,” said the Public Relations Officer of Sambalpur Railway Division.
"On date (Nov 12), at about 3:50 AM, due to sudden falling of boulders on the running train, 5 coaches of Train No 07390 Kannur-Bengaluru Express derailed between Toppuru - Sivadi of (Bengaluru Salem Section), Bengaluru Division,"
