At least four wagon of a goods train were derailed near Sarla yard of Sambalpur-Jharsuguda railway line late last night. 

The goods train laden with cement was en route to Sambalpur city station from Jharsuguda when the mishap occurred. 

Following the mishap, some trains running on the route have been cancelled while some others have been diverted. 

Jharsuguda-Sambalpur passenger train and Rourkela-Bhubaneswar express have been cancelled.

Similarly, Puri-Indore express will run via Sambalpur. Rourkela-Gunpur express and Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar express departed from Sambalpur station. 

While the restoration works of the track are currently underway, the exact cause of the derailment has not been established yet.

“Four wagons were derailed. The restoration work has been completed. The matter will be investigated and the exact cause will be known,” said Sambalpur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM).
