Odisha reported 51,968 forest fires between November 2020 and June 2021, which was the highest in the country during the period.
The instances of forest fire in Similipal reserve forest has been reduced in 2022 as compared to the instances reported last year (2021), informed the Odisha Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Sashi Paul on Tuesday.
The outbreak of the blaze in the reserve has put the lives of a number of species of fauna and flora, many rare and richly medicinal in value, under serious risk of destruction in the period of last three days.
