On Rath Yatra, sibling deities stepped out of Srimandir in ceremonial Pahandi to meet their beloved devotees. Catch the grand spectacle from pilgrim town of Puri.

Before the commencement of the Rath Yatra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah performed 'mangla aarti' (auspicious ritual to pay obeisance to Lord) of the deities in the temple in the early hours.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra today.

Meanwhile, devotees have flock to Badadanda in large number to witness the annual sojourn of the Holy Trinity.

The three gigantic chariots of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are decked up and ready outside Srimandir for their annual sojourn to Gundicha temple on Friday (July 1).

By the grace of God, we do not have a severe COVID pandemic this year around. So, we are observing the festival this time with full public attendance, Puri King said.

The Puri Police has chalked out the route plan for devotees planning to visit Puri for Rath Yatra. The route chart and traffic advisory was shared on social media for convenience of devotees coming from Bhubaneswar-side. Route charts have been shared for both two wheelers and four wheeler vehicles as well.

The district administration has formed three teams for which 39 fire services personnel have been engaged to tackle probable drowning cases during Rath Yatra.  

A day before the sibling deities undertake their sojourn to their aunt’s place, the chariots were pulled to Singhadhar of Puri Jagannath temple after the Agyan Mala bije rituals. The mega event is being held with public participation after a two-year pandemic hiatus.

An aura of devotion pervaded across the Bada Danda in Puri for the much-awaited divine journey of Lord Jagannath to Gundicha Temple. This year,

Devotees heaved a sigh of relief after having darshan of the deities in their youthful looks (Nabajoubana besha). 

Jagannath is the Lord of Universe. Every aspect of His being and culture is grand in scale and span. His Rath Yatra and his chariot or the Juggernaut befits His grandeur. During Rath Yatra every year, three chariots are constructed from the ground up; and for centuries, the size and scale of these chariots is impeccably maintained by masterful craftsmanship.

Ahead of Rath Yatra 2022 all the preparations are in full swing. The traffic police and Red Cross conducted a green corridor mock drill on the Grand Road in Puri on Tuesday. The Red Cross and traffic police officials conducted the mock drill by forming human chain and clearing way for movement of ambulance during emergency.

Public will be barred from darshan for some secret rituals which will continue from 10.30 am to 2pm and again from 3pm to 6pm.

Health Director, Bijay Mohapatra informed that 69 first-aid centers have been set up in the pilgrim town. Various hospitals in Puri are also equipped with additional 287 beds, and 26 AC beds keeping in view the humid conditions. A total of 145 doctors, 7 food safety officers, 40 pharmacists, 30 nursing officers and 45 health officers will also be deployed.
