Oil India has finally begun exploration of oil and natural gas in Puri's Gop block. Following a survey last year, Oil India had discovered oil and natural gas reserves on 8 acre of Kusupur gram panchayat and Chitra gram panchayat in Gop block.

According to sources, in the first phase the oil major will dig three smalls ponds and has engaged two JCBs for the digging work.
