Vinod comes from a family of army men. His father got injured in the 1971 war. Vinod joined BSF but had to leave after suffering an injury in 2002 when he fell off a cliff in Leh leading to severe injuries to his legs. He was bed-ridden for close to 10 years.

This was India's second silver medal of the day and also the second at the Tokyo Games after Bhavina Patel claimed silver in the women's singles Class 4 table tennis on Sunday morning.

Bhavina has assured India's first medal in table tennis at the Paralympics. India's 12 medals at the Paralympics so far have come in three sports -- athletics (3 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze), powerlifting (1 bronze), and swimming (1 gold).
