President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday conferred a Kirti Chakra (posthumous) and 14 Shaurya Chakras (including eight posthumous) during a Defence Investiture Ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

A total of 42 personnel have been awarded Fire Service Medals and out of these, President's Fire Service Medal for Gallantry has been given to one personnel; Fire Service Medal for Gallantry to two personnel for their respective acts of valour and gallantry.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind conferred gallantry awards to the personnel of Armed Forces, including Galwan Valley heroes, those who fought off Chinese troops, during Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Of the two, one Kirti Chakra, and of the 10, two Shaurya Chakras were awarded posthumously. Apart from the Kirti Chakras, Vir Chakra and the Shaurya Chakras, the President also awarded 13 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, two Uttam Yudh Seva Medals and 24 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, it said.
