Recovery of 6,768 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,39,06,972.
According to government data, at least 23.32 lakh people have not taken their second dose while around 2.40 crore people are yet to take the booster jabs.
With 7,219 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,44,49,726, while the active cases declined to 56,745, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.
Forty-seven per cent of the parents were of the view that there is an increased interaction between them and teachers in schools as well as over phone calls, it said.

The initiative would be implemented at government Covid-19 vaccination centres for 75 days from July 15 to September 30.

The latest surge in global Covid cases, majorly driven by the Omicron sub-variant BA.5, may be causing increasing reinfections, meaning more people are catching Covid-19 for the second or third time, according to a media report.

According to Swaminathan, all new Covid variants in the future will be more transmissible and capable of evading immunity that can result in increased illness and hospitalisations.

Khordha reported the highest 183 new cases followed by Cuttack (88), Balasore (22), Sundargarh (20), and Puri (11). The State Pool registered 43 cases.
On COVID-19, globally reported cases have increased nearly 30 per cent over the past two weeks. Four out of six of the WHO sub-regions saw cases increase in the last week, Ghebreyesus said at a press briefing Wednesday.
