Bangalore: Senior players such as Sachin Tendulkar chose to give it a miss but eight other members of India`s World Cup squad had a one hour training session at the National Cricket Academy here on Wednesday.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was among the eight who trained during the optional session ahead of the March 6 Group B clash against Ireland.

Those who chose to stay back at the hotel included pace spearhead Zaheer Khan, fellow fast bowler S Sreesanth, batsman Suresh Raina and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Opener Virender Sehwag, who is in Delhi to consult a physiotherapist for a rib cage injury, is expected to join the squad tomorrow, sources in the team said.

India have so far played two matches in the event, winning the opening game against Bangladesh before settling for a thrilling tie against England.
