Bhubaneswar: The state unit of Youth Congress has got its first ever elected president. Sangram Jena, the newly elected president defeated his nearest rival Biswabhushan Dash by a margin of 2,887 votes. The counting of votes took place at the Congress Bhawan here. The All India Youth Congress president announced the results in the afternoon.

The post of the state Youth Congress was lying vacant since March after the resignation of Pradeep Majhi. As per the Youth Congress constitution, the defeated candidate Biswabhushan Dash would function as the vice president. The names of eight new general secretaries also were announced. The newly elected office bearers would have a term of two years.
