Two Youths Arrested On Charges Of Harassing Actress In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested two youths on charges of stalking and harassing an Odia actress in Bhubaneswar recently, a video of which had gone viral on social media.

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo informed that the city police swung into action and arrested the accused based on the written complaint filed by the actress at Nayapalli Police station.

“The two accused in the incident involving some actors on 20-21 October intervening night under Nayapalli PS limit have been arrested, as per law, after a written complaint was received,” said the Commissionerate Police in a tweet.

A constable Priya Ranjan Sahoo was also felicitated by the police for handling the case efficiently.

As per reports, two bike-borne miscreants allegedly attempted to waylay and attack the actress while she was returning from Khandagiri along with her colleagues in a car on Monday night. One of the accused had also allegedly tried to throw an alcohol bottle set on fire at the actress’ vehicle.

The viral video was shot by one of the occupants of the car. The incident had sparked an outrage raising concern over safety of women in the capital city.
