Tribal land grab slur on Congress MLA

Sambalpur: Congress MLA from Jharsuguda Assembly segment Naba Das landed in trouble after a tribal old woman lodged an FIR against him yesterday accusing him of encroaching on her land here.

Following the complaint, police registered a case against seven persons including the legislator and his wife.

According to police, some land mafia had sold over 4 acre of land belonging to Gangi Munda citing her dead and barren. A case was also heard in the court of the deputy sub-collector in which Gangi got the decree in 2007.

Despite administrative order, neither Gangi nor his family took possession of her land which is now in the name of Naba Das and his wife.

Reacting to the allegation, the Congress legislator denied purchasing the piece of land directly from any tribal person. He alleged that it is a political conspiracy against him to tarnish his image.
