Tranquiliser Team Of Nandankanan Zoo To Capture Elephant In Jajpur

Jajpur: A tranquiliser team from the Nandankanan zoological park in Bhubaneswar will reach Jajpur today to capture the wild elephant that has reportedly killed four persons in the last one week.

As per reports, two teams, one from Nandankanan zoo and another from Baripada will search for the elephant hiding in Dhuligad forest and tranquilise it.

A drone-mounted camera will reportedly be used to trace the jumbo, if deemed necessary by the team.

Ranger of Jajpur Road forest division, Devendra Patnaik said, “The teams will reach here today and our next course of action will be decided only after a discussion with them.”

“We are able to locate the elephant in the forest, but we may think of deploying a drone camera if it’s needed,” added Patnaik.

The tusker has reportedly trampled four persons including a minor in the last one week.
