New Delhi:  At least three individuals from Odisha among 27 others were conferred with the National Youth Award 2011-12. M Tejeswar of Koraput, Gangadhar Behara of Cuttack, Dhyanananda Panda of Kalahandi received the prestigious award from President Pranab Mukharjee at a function here in Rastrapati Bhawan on Thursday. 
 
“I have reached here only due to the blessings of people of Odisha and especially my villagers. I desire to serve people of Baipariguda with their support”, M Tejeswar said. 
 
Similarly, another awardee Dhyanananda Panda expressed hearty gratitude to his district people. “I have been given the award for working for the developments of youths in Odisha. I am much grateful to the people of Odisha”, Panda said. 
 
It is for the first time the National Youth awards have been given by the President of India. The award carries a silver medal, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 40,000 in case of individual awardee and Rs 2 lakh for any voluntary organisation. 
 
National Youth Awards, instituted in the year 1985 are conferred on youth each year who have demonstrably excelled in different fields of youth development and social service.
