Tension at Kalinganagar steel hub over accident

Jajpur: Tension prevailed at a private steel steel under construction at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district following an accident in which a worker of the plant sustained serious injury on Thursday, police said.

The injured worker, identified as Bachan Patra, 26 of Bhuban in Dhenkanal was immediately rushed to the local government hospital at Danagadi and later shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated, police said.

Patra has been working under a contractor, engaged in the construction work of the steel plant.

The incident occurred in the plant premises when a company bus which was carrying workers hit Patra who was on his way to his work site along with some of the fellow workers.

When Patra fell down, the rear wheels of the bus run over his legs which led tension in the area.

The Kalinga Nagar police led by its Inspector-in- charge K C Mund rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

No FIR has been lodged in this regard so far, Mund said.
