Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD today announced the candidature of Subhas Gonda for the by-poll ro be held for the reserved Umerkote assembly seat necessitated due to the death of Jagabandhu Majhi.

Subhas, known as a close associate of Jagabandhu, was the front runner among the all the aspirants listed by the poll committee headed by revenue minister Surya Narayan Patro. Subhas`s name was announced after the party supremo and chief minister Naveen Pattanaik cleared his name.

The BJP and the Congress have already announced the names of their candidates for the by-poll.
