Bhubaneswar: Students of National Institute of Social Work and Social Sciences (NISWASS) today staged a demonstration alleging the institute authorities of delaying issuance of certificates to them.

As per the students, the administration of the institute has been delaying certificates to them by one year due to which they are forced to wait for an extra year even after the completion of their two-year course. The students have alleged that negligence of the authorities have put their career on jeopardy.

"Even though I have moved to second year, the authorities are yet to issue the first year certificates to me. Our future looks grim because of the institute's delay," said, a student, Nishita Mahapatra.

The students have further alleged that the administration repeatedly ignores their pleas by stating that the University decides about issue pertaining to certificates.

"The authorities have been delaying the certificates by stating that the University will decide the issue of certificate clearance. It seems we are sandwiched between the University's role and our institute's apathy," said, another student, Swastik Kumar Dey.

Responding to the allegations, Vice Principal of NISWASS, Chandrakanta Mallick however said, "We have talked to the University authority and they have informed that the certificates will be issued by 29th of April. But no matter how much we try to make the students understand, they would not listen to us."
