Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday decided to increase the revenue collection amount by 17 per cent and has set a target to collect Rs 26,350 crore as revenue
for the current fiscal.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik at the state Secretariat.
“We have set a target to achieve 17 per cent more revenue this year than the previous fiscal,” said Patnaik after the meeting.

As per official reports, the non-tax revenue collection for this year has been set at Rs 8,000 crore whereas state’s own tax revenue base has been set at Rs 18,350 crore.

In the state’s own tax revenue base, sales tax would be the biggest contributor to government’s kitty with Rs 11,500 crore. State excise is expected to generate Rs 1,900 crore, officials said. Entry tax (tax levied on goods & passengers) would account Rs 1,500 crore while Rs 1,100 crore would be collected from stamp and registration tax.

In Non-tax revenue collection, Rs 6,600 crore would be generated from the mines sector. The state would collect Rs 300 crore from interest while dividend collection has been set at Rs 230 crore, according to officials.
