Sambalpur bandh today over IIM demand

Sambalpur: Different organisations of Sambalpur have jointly called for a 12-hour bandh in the district demanding setting up of IIM in Sambalpur.

The activists are seen picketing in the town and shut down the business establishment. Vehicular traffic came to a standstill as the they blocked the road at many places. Raygada- Sambalpur intercity express was halted at Khetrajpur station for at least 20 minutes as the strikers resorted to rail roko.

The bandh was also observed in Kuchinda of the district. The government and public sector offices, educational institutions remained closed. Students of many institutions have organized road show and rally.

Notably, site for the establishment of IIM has been selected in Bhubaneswar following which people here raised concern over the alleged apathetic attitude of government towards western Odisha.
