Malkangiri: Left Wing Extremism continues to strike fear into the heart of people in tribal-dominated Malkangiri district with fresh report of a family fleeing their native village due to Naxal threat coming to fore in the district today.

One Ganga Madi along with his family members left their house at Katuapadar village after being allegedly assaulted by red rebels in a ‘praja court’. The family members have reportedly taken shelter in their relative’s house at Dhakad Rasi village.

According to sources, Maoists had conducted a ‘praja court’ two days back and convened Madi and his family members. They reportedly held Madi guilty by branding him a police informer and brutally thrashed him. The extremists also threatened him and his family members to immediately leave the village.

With no alternative, the panic-stricken family left the village to save their lives. Although some police officials reached out to them, the family members reportedly did not divulge anything to them.

No comments could be obtained from administrative officials in connection with the incident.
