Berhampur: Unidentified men today fired at a pertol pump official seriously injuring him and looted Rs 5.76 lakh at Dian Dein village in Ganjam district, about 50-km from here.
 
The pump manager Srinibash Rao was admitted at MKCG Medical College Hospital here and his condition was critical, police said.
 
The motorcycle-borne miscreants fired at Rao while he was on way to deposit the cash in the State Bank of India (SBI) Rambha branch in his motorcycle at about 12.30 pm, they said.
 
The bank is located three-km from the petrol pump and Rao was alone on the bike. No sooner than he fell, the miscreants snatched the bagful cash and fled, police said.
 
As the pump manager resisted the gang fired at least two rounds at him, with one hitting his leg," police said.
