Patnagarh Wedding Gift Blast Mastermind Granted 4-Day Conditional Bail

Cuttack: Orissa High Court today granted conditional interim bail to Patnagarh blast mastermind, Punjilal Meher, to take part in his mother’s post-funeral rituals.

As per reports, Punjilal’s bail will take effect from 24th January as 23rd is a holiday. The court granted him bail on two sureties of Rs 50,000 each and Punjilal has been asked to surrender before the court by 11AM on January 28.

As per the conditions of the bail, Punjilal has been directed to inform the police before moving out of station and prohibited him from interacting with media persons.

Earlier on January 12, Punjilal was granted permission to attend the funeral of his mother.

On February 23, 2018, a bomb disguised in a gift parcel exploded inside the house of a newly-wed couple at Patnagarh in Bolangir district, killing the groom and his grandmother, while the bride sustained grievous injuries. Later, Crime Branch’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) cracked the case and arrested Punjilal in around 2 months.
