Patient jumps to death from hospital building in Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal: A patient allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Dhenkanal. The deceased has been identified as Tuna Behera (21) of Mahulkhol village under Gondia Police limits.
Behera who worked as a labourer was admitted to the DHH after he suffered heatstroke yesterday.
It is still unclear how Behera, who was undergoing treatment at a ward located on fourth floor of the hospital, went to the sixth floor.
ADMO SK Bhol on the other hand stated that the patient was mentally unstable and it is suspected that he committed suicide as a blade has been recovered from near the window from which he jumped.
“It is an unfortunate incident. The patient was admitted to the DHH yesterday night. The patient committed suicide as he had slit his wrist before jumping off the building,” said Bhol.
“We don’t know how he reached the sixth floor of the hospital as we were looking for him outside the hospital,” said Shailabala Behera, a relative of the deceased.
Meanwhile, police have started a probe into the incident.
