Odisha ministers snub House Committee meetings on key issues

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker on Friday expressed concerns over the absence ministers and nominated members during meetings of various House Committees constituted on crucial issues with only 14 out of 42 members of the Energy committee and 12 out of 22 members of the border disputes committee attending their respective meetings.

After the meeting, Leader of Opposition, Narasingha Mishra said “Assembly House Committee meetings are often getting cancelled as elected representatives and nominated members are not attending.”

BJD spokesperson Amar Satpathy on the other hand said “Today’s was a preliminary meeting and all the concerned ministers will attend the next meeting.”

He further said that RDC and Collectors will be asked to attend the border disputes committee meetings henceforth.
