Bhubaneswar: From now on, the State Fire Service personnel will appear in a different avatar especially while carrying out non-fire operational duties. A notification issued by the State Home department on Saturday informed about the State government's decision to introduce a new dress code for fire personnel.

According to the notification, all ranks of men and officers of all wings of Fire Service up to AFO and equivalent will wear red colour track pant with yellow stripes on the outer length with words “Odisha Fire Service” written on the back and along the length of the trousers.

Fire personnel will also henceforth wear a yellow colour T-Shirt with word “Fire” in fluorescent red colour on the backside, said the notification.

Firemen will have to put up the workwear during non- fire operational duties including disaster response, special service calls, flood and rescue operations. However, they will continue to follow their usual dress code during fire fighting operations.
