Mercury to soar further, Bhubaneswar hottest city in India

Bhubaneswar: We are halfway through February but the scorching heat across the State has already started giving the feel of May. The temperature soared to 39.2 degrees Celsius in Bhubaneswar, making it the hottest city in India on Friday.

As many as 13 places in the State recorded temperature above 35 degrees Celsius. Malkangiri remained the hottest district in Odisha with 39.2 degrees Celsius followed by Cuttack with 37.2 degrees Celsius.

Officials of the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar stated that the temperature is likely to increase further today but will change from February 24. The Met has also forecast rain from February 26 under the influence of Western disturbance.

“The temperature varies depending on the relative motion and direction of the wind. Rainfall is expected in the State for three to four days. Due to this, the temperature will considerably come down in the days to come,” said Duty Officer of Regional Meteorological Centre RK Nayak.
