Koraput: Maoists have started their week-long protest in Koraput from today by calling a bandh demanding to halt green hunt operation, release of political prisoners and stop paramilitary operation in Chattisgarh district.

Meanwhile, uncertainty still prevailed over the release of abducted Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka, who yesterday completed one month in rebels’ captivity. The praja (people’s) court scheduled for Wednesday is expected to decide the fate of the BJD legislator.

The family members and Tumuripadar villagers were still in dismay over whereabouts of the MLA as well.

Though the government has assured to take all possible steps to release the first-time tribal legislator, the bail procedings of some prisoners is yet to complete.
