Bhubaneswar: In a nerve-shattering incident, as many as 33 cattle and three persons were killed as lighting struck in different parts of the state on Friday.
 
According to reports reaching here, 28 cows were killed at Ramachhipidihi village in Jharsuguda district’s Laikera area after lighting struck the domestic animals while they were grazing in a field.
 
Similarly, lightning struck five cows at Siarimalia village of Palalahada area in Angul district leaving them dead.
 
While one person in Bebagarh district’s Nistimal area became victim of lighting, it killed an old man of Talakurunia village in Bahanaga area of Balasore district. A youth of Kendudihi village in Lahunipada area of Sundargarh district also lost his life after he came across the lightning.
 
Notably, 13 were killed and six others sustained injuries in separate incidents of lightning reported from Khurda, Cuttack and Sundargarh districts on September 16 while the toll rose over 20 on the very next day.
