Malkangiri: Jairam Khera, sarpanch of Badpadar in Malkangiri distirct was feared to be missing. But later it was alleged that he was detained by the district police for extorting money from the Essar company on behalf of the Maoists. After his release.Khera had released a sensational clipping on YouTube making grave charges against the Malkangiri district superintendent of police. In the clippings Khera had apprehended danger to his life from the young SP and said that in case of his death or missing, the Malkangiri SP should he held responsible.

In an Exclusive Interview to OTV, Khera has said that he will soon appeal to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and the Human Rights Commission for his security. He has alleged that he was detained unlawfully by the district police only because he knows one contractor, B K Lal, who works for the Essar investigation by the country’s premier investigation agency, the CBI, into the controversial drama.

Khera has alleged that the Chhatisgarh police had arrested one official of the Essar company for providing money to the Maoists. In YouTube Jairam Khera has complained that the Chhatisgarh police was hellbent to make him a witness in the case and hence he was detained by the state police of neighbouring Chhatisgarh. Khera had said that he had taken the company official village being the  sarpanch.  The Malkangiri SP then handed him over to the Chhatisgarh police. The Chhatisdarh police applied third-degree methods on him and forced him to sign on a concocted statement. Khera even alleged that the Malkangiri SP had threatened to bump him off in an encounter. The Chhatisgarh police had arrested K S Verma, an Essar official, on September 27. Another company official at Malkangiri, deputy manager Srinivas too was made an accused in the case. Jairam Khera in fact had gone with Srinivas to the village and was noticed by the police. The Malkangiri SP Aniruddh Singh has, however, refuted all the charges levelled by Khera and denied that he had threatened Jairam of an encounter.
