Four killed, 3 injured as car rams into truck in Balasore

Balasore: At least four persons were killed while three others were injured after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck near Kundapur on NH-60 in Balasore in the wee hours today. The accident occurred between 2 AM and 2:30 AM when seven members of two families from Turamara and Paikasidha villages were returning from Puri.

Though the exact reason is unclear, it is suspected that the mishap occurred due to carelessness on part of the car driver after he fell asleep at the wheel, sources said.

Two persons died on the spot while two others died on the way to Basta hospital. The deceased have been identified as Tofani Rana and his wife Kalpana of Paikasidha village of Jaleswar block and Subiranjan Parida of Turamara village and driver Rabi Rana.

Following the mishap, three others who sustained critical injuries in the mishap have been admitted to Balasore hospital.
