Criminal manages to flee from police custody
The accused identified as Binat Nayak escaped from the custody of police escort party by poring a blow on a police guard in front of the sub jail Balliguda on Tuesday, said Asutosh Mishra Inspector-in-Charge of Balliguda Police Station.
According to sources, Binat was taken to the local court for trial of his case by the escort police party consisting three constables in a city ride vehicle. Before entering into the vehicle, he gave a strong blow to one armed constable Debendra Pradhan and fled away from the spot, Mishsra said adding that he was yet to be traced.
Binat and one of his associate Sani Nayak were arrested by Balliguda police on May 19. Four bikes, gold and silver ornaments and three cell phones were seized from them.
Eleven cases including seven alone in Kandhmal area were pending against him.
An FIR was lodged against him at Balliguda police station relating to escape of Nayak.
