Bhubaneswar: After eight years of the brutal murder of Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, a mines trader of Keonjhar, the Additional District Judge Court-II, Bhubaneswar, will deliver its verdict on Saturday.

While the police have registered cases against 10 accused including gangster Hyder, the court has recorded the statement of 46 witnesses so far.

Notably, Mohapatra was abducted from Sahid Nagar area in Bhubaneswar on May 27, 2007 when he had come to purchse marble slabs.

The abductors later demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from Mohapatra’s family members who had paid Rs 1 crore for his release.

Police, who was investigating the case, found two half-burnt bodies from Jamshedpur area in Bihar of which one of the bodies was identified as Mohapatra after the DNA test.
