Commissionerate police mulling mobile app to ‘Dial 100’
Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the upcoming men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, Commissionerate Police is contemplating a massive makeover and upgradation of its police control room.
Police Commissioner YB Khurania informed that a number of measures for security and traffic management are being planned along with several new additions to the Dial 100 facility.
Already discussion with several stakeholders and application providers have begun for a web based application for dialling 100 for smart phone users, informed sources.
“It will be an app like ‘Mo Sathi’ where the citizens can download and directly contact the control room in case of emergency,” said Khurania.
The new application will have a feature where the exact location of the caller can also be traced, informed sources.
“We are also planning to upgrade the GPS in PCR vans. Similarly, instead of VHF sets, efforts are on to have a more reliable and fast communication through voice, SMS & digital maps,” Khurania added.
