Bhubaneswar: The state Crime Branch (CB) has written to the Registrar of Companies (RoC) to cancel licence of Seashore Group, said a CB official on Tuesday.

DIG of Crime Branch Rakesh Kumar said, “We have written to the RoC for the cancellation of Seashore’s licence. Subsequently steps will be taken to cancel the licences of all small and big chit fund enterprises against which cases of irregularities and fraud have been lodged.”

He also said that legal steps are being taken to stop these companies opening chit fund organisations in future.

However Seashore’s response has not been received regarding this matter.

Most of the Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFCc) in the state have been registered under the RoC and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.

The CB has conducted raids on 79 companies and as many as 164 cases have been registered till now.

To rein in fly-by-night fund operators following the multi-crore Saradha chit-fund scam, Odisha Crime Branch on last Friday had conducted a massive crackdown on as many as 150 branches of chit fund firms running money circulation schemes across the state.
