Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) demonstrated a massive rally and protest in Motu on Monday against the Andhra Pradesh government’s move to continue construction work of the multi-purpose Polavaram project despite opposition by the state and pending cases in the Supreme Court.


The project, if materialized would inundate vast stretches of agricultural lands and innumerable villages in Motu tehsil of Andhra-Odisha border, according to BJD party leaders. Minister for school and mass education Rabi Narayan Nanda, MP Jayaram Pangi, Malkangiri MLA Mukund Sodi and several leaders from Rayagada, Koraput and Nabrangpur districts joined with several others on the occasion.
