Bhubaneswar: Trapped in the false affidavit row, BJD MLA from Tirtol of Jagasinghpur district Rabindranath Bhoi on Friday called on party supremo and CM Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas here and discussed the matter with him.

"I did not study Plus II or Plus III. I had joined the AMIE course in Chennai, but could not complete it because my father died and my family did not have money to fund my education. I admit my affidavit was wrong," Bhoi said after meeting the chief minister.

However, he has put the decision on party chief whether he would resign over the issue. "Whatever the party supremo will decide, I will abide”, Bhoi replied to the newsmen.

Patnaik, after meeting the legislator said, “I will look into the matter.”

The Tirtol legislator had allegedly furnished false information about his educational qualifications at the time of filing nomination during 2009 general elections. He, however, claimed that he was unaware about the details mentioned in the affidavit and blamed party MLA and former minister Bishnu Charan Das for the matter. He accused Das for the "misleading information" mentioned in the affidavit.

Bhoi alleged that the Jagatsinghpur MLA had drafted the affidavit and he was only asked to sign on it at the last moment of filing nomination papers.

On the other hand, Das denied such allegation and said it is an attempt to tarnish his image in public.

"I am not his personal assistant that I can know everything about his educational qualifications”, Das said.
