Bhubaneshwar: Breaking his silence on allegation of second power centre in ruling BJD raised by a disgruntled party leader, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday refuted the charge saying there is no other power centre and all decisions are taken by him.

"There is no other power centre," BJD supremo Patnaik said, a day after party leader Damodar Rout raised for the second time in a week the issue of "real power centre" in the ruling party as well as the government.

"The decisions are made by me and taken by me," the chief minister said.

Rout, who was dropped from the Naveen ministry on May 9, had said in a statement yesterday that the chief minister was yet to make it clear that he is the only power centre in BJD and takes decision on his own.

Rout had earlier alleged that the chief minister was implementing agenda of party MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra instead of taking own decision.

"Pyari is the real power centre while Naveen only an executor," Rout had said.

Denying the allegation, Mohapatra told reporters that there is only one power centre - the chief minister, who is also the president of the ruling BJD.

There is no scope or need for having a second power centre, he said.

Rout had said yesterday: "The person who is working as the second power centre has also not yet denied the allegation made by me."

On the second power centre, Rout said it was like cancer. "The second power centre in a regional party gives birth to corruption, nepotism, appeasement and anti-people activities," he had said.
