Biju Yuba Janata organises dharna, demo in railway stations

Rourkela: Biju Yuba Janata Dal activists on Monday staged demonstration in front of Rourkela and Rajgangpur railway stations alleging neglect of Orissa and region by the railway ministry in rail budget.

The demonstrators claimed that railway minister Mamata Banerjee has neglected Orissa in particular and Rourkela region in particular by ignoring the demands of the people.

Although various organisations and political parties had submitted memoranda and written letters to the railway minister much before the budget she had simply ignored it giving much importance to her state West Bengal.

Addressing the gathering Subrat Tarai, MLA alleged that Mamata Banerjee behaved like a railway minister for West Bengal only and not the whole country and warned that if the genuine demands are not be considered by the railway, the party will intensify the agitation.

Similar demonstration was also organised at Rajgangpur railway station, about 40 km from here under the leadership of Sundargarh district unit of Biju Yuba Janata Dal president Sanjay Naik.

The main demands of the area includes establishment of rail division at Rourkela, construction of Talcher-Bimlagarh railway line, provision of local employment, improvement of Rourkela station, establishment of a coach factory at Bangamunda and introduction of long distance trains from Rourkela.
