Balasore: A big question mark has been raised over the setting up of the government medical college at Balasore here with the High Court Committee report pointing out large-scale anomalies in both medical services and about the unhealthy surroundings of the present hospital. In their report, the committee which visited the Balasore hospital recently has expressed dissatisfaction over the existing hygienic condition of the hospital.

Starting from overflowing drains full of syringes, polythenes and medicine bottles to the long-unattended heaps of garbages, the committee has mentioned about the unhygienic condition in the medical campus in their report. Wards of the hospital also wear a sorry look and hundreds of the patients coming from far-off places of the district express anguish over the facilities available in the hospital. The medical authorities, however, discount the allegations and said the waste management as well as the garbage system were attended to on a daily basis.

The people of Balasore town and district have been demanding for the setting up the government medical college and hospital for a long time. Now concern has been raised over the establishment of the college in Balasore town following the submission of the report of the High Court committee.
