Puri: The sudden detachment of the carvel of a temple on the western gate of the Jagannath temple had sent flutters throughout the nation barely 15 days back. The carvel and its attachments have been put in place within a record time, thanks to the workers and officials of the Archaeological Society of India (ASI)). The senior conservator of the ASI, supervising the repairment work, has assured that repair work of some other temples on both the western and northern sides of the main temple would be undertaken very soon as well.

The carvel of the temple which had fallen off on November 1 has been replaced with a new one carved out of khandolite stone pieces. Senior conservator, ASI, Dillip Kumar Panda told that some servitors were invited to survey the repair work to win back their confidence since the sevayats were aggrieved with the ASI. However, some servitors complained that the ASI was not performing its duty perfectly and there was inordinate delay in repairing some other small temples inside the Jagannath temple.
