Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Anshuman Kamila has topped the Indian Economic Service (IES) Examination 2019. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the final results of IES exam in its official website- upsc.gov.in on Friday.

Anshuman is the son of former Chief Post Master General of Odisha, Santosh Kamila while his mother is a professor in Economics Department of Utkal University and a renowned singer of the State.

As per a notification of the UPSC, a total of 32 candidates have been selected for appointment to the posts to be filled under IES and Anshuman secured the first position among them. The IES main exam was held from June 28 to June 30, 2019, followed by interviews and personality test in December 2019 and January 2020.

An elated Anshuman while speaking to OTV said, "I would like to credit my success to my family and well-wishers. It’s their blessings and support which always encouraged me. I am happy that I am the one from Odisha who topped the exam. I am looking forward to work for the development of the economy of the State."

Sharing his success mantra, Anshuman said, “I did not study for hours, rather, I studied regularly and every day. I had to face failures a couple of times but it did not deter me from pursuing the civil services. My family always encouraged me to follow my passion which brought me the success today.”

Advising other UPSC aspirants, he said, “The students should follow the syllabus in details because if they do it religiously, I think many candidates preparing for the exam can crack it.”

Mother of Anshuman, Mitali Chinara said, "The credit goes to him, his teachers & well-wishers. He is very sincere, committed & ethical."
